The door policy however is Stalinist and the drinks prices put the cost of your TV licence in the shade, dress up to get down and don’t expect to large groups to be greeted with open arms. Speaking loud English in the queue seems to help though.

Cheers @ La Coupole- Boulevard Montparnasse- Metro Vavin - North of the river, things start to get smokey. Le Grand Rex is the best club in Paris, situated on the equivalent of London’s Oxford street, this place is steeped in history, it is here that Laurent Garnier got his first break and he resides here to this day (every Thursday alongside D’Julz for those who like it a bit trackier), Saturdays are the deepest of house, although nowhere in Paris seems to play French House, its simply a tag invented by the UK music press. The door policy is more relaxed but expect to part with 16 Euros to hear the pounding sound system for yourself.

Le Grand Rex- Boulevard Poissoniere- Metro Grands Boulevards - Other noteworthy clubs are Favela Chic (Metro Bastille) which knocks out anything with a Brazillian groove, usually a restaurant, then they pull back the tables and things get messy. WAG (Metro Odeon) is worth look too, they host nights such as Lazy Dog in Paris and assorted one offs, BEWARE, at 9 Euros a pop that bottled beer will never have tasted so good! Plus, Les Bains (Metro Etienne Marcel) hosts regular appearances from DJ Gregory and a new residency for London’s bad boy Paul Farris.
