| BIOGRAPHY - MOOD II SWING In 1991, Lem Springsteen and John Ciafone were members of an R&B group that unfortunately disbanded before ever signing a record deal due to the lead singer’s sudden departure. Shortly thereafter Lem, singer/songwriter, and John, drum programmer, elected to continue working together. They formed Mood II Swing at the urging of Little Louie Vega who suggested they master producing. Vega was also instrumental in introducing them to the dance music world. Little did they know that Mood II Swing would become the production powerhouse they are today. Lem’s musical background is rooted in soul music. His father is a jazz pianist and his mother a gospel singer. Music permeated his home and it not only influenced, it shaped his style from an early age. John on the other hand was the DJ in a hardcore Hip Hop group signed to an indie label. At the age of 24 he began producing and his DJ skills shaped his sound, as did the classical music that was so prevalent in his childhood. The two combined their distinct styles and introduced the Mood II Swing sound to the world. They have written and produced some of house music’s most memorable songs: “Learn 2 Luv” (Kim English), “Living In Ecstasy” (Fonda Rae), and “Found A Cure” (Ultra Nate). |

They have also become one of the most in-demand remixers. They have remixed Janet Jackson (“Come On & Get Up”), George Michael (“Fast Love”), BT (“Remember”), Nuyorican Soul ("It’s Alright, I Feel It!") and India ("I Can't Get To Sleep" and "Whenever U Touch Me"). Their collaborations with other producers have been remarkable, most notably with Little Louie Vega (Barbara Tucker's "Beautiful People" and "I Get Lifted,” and Donnell Rush’s “Shout –N– Out,” which they co-wrote). In 1997, they wrote the score for Jennifer George’s fashion show that aired as part of VH-1’s fashion week coverage. Later that same year they wrote and produced “Free” for Ultra Nate. "Free" sold over one million copies worldwide and was a Top-10 pop single in Europe, reaching the #1 spot on the national charts in France, Spain, Italy and Switzerland. In the U.S., "Free" soared to the top of Billboard’s Club Play and Sales charts, ultimately crossing over to Top-40 radio. Their most recent single, “Can’t Get Away From You,” is currently at the top of DJ Magazine’s Hype Chart (January 2004). In an ever changing and unpredictable world, Mood II Swing remains relevant. The new millennium marks the expansion of Mood II Swing as Alain Boppart, an accomplished DJ, joins their rank. Boppart’s sets reflect the team’s musical essence and their combined vision. In 2004, Mood II Swing will bring their unique DJ sets to clubs around the world, and will continue to enthrall us with their signature productions. |
