BIOGRAPHY - QUENTIN HARRIS Born in Detroit, Michigan, Quentin grew up in a musical household. "My mother sang and my father was a DJ/Musician, so I was exposed at an early age to musical styles ranging from rock to jazz". At age five, he taught himself to play piano and soon moved on to playing trumpet, baritone and drums. DJ's Mike Huckaby and Mike "The Funky Honky” Clarke influenced him into becoming an artist/producer, so he embarked on a carreer in Hip-Hop. He made the rounds at local spots such as Maurice Malone's Hip-Hop Shop accompaning such (then un-signed) artists as Slum Village, Eminem, and all the members of D12. He then went on to form his own group of nine MC's called, The Bio Chemist which he produced. He eventually moved to New York to become DJ/ Producer of the Hip-Hop group, The Masterminds. They went on a national tour in 1999 promoting their album, "The Underground Railroad". After the tour, Quentin left the group to become an independent producer and DJ. He's played at various New York venues such as Speed, Downtime, Drinkland and Brooklyn's 667. He eventually hooked up with Marvin Howell,who was an A&R with BMG. This has led to remix work with major label artists such as Shakira. Quentin's recent works includes, Shakira's "Whenever, Wherever" (remixer), "Too Hott 2002", "Sincere" (with Tyrone Francis),TCQ “That’s Love”, John Pierce “My Words”, Donnie’s “Cloud 9” and “Rocketship”. Quentin is currently working on Dancehall artist, Shaggy’s new album. |
