| It
has been almost seven years since Jon Cutler launched
his N.Y.C. based Distant Music label. In March of
1996 Distant Music released its first single The E.Z.
Tracks E.P., mixed and produced by Johnny Fiasco.
While preparing to release the first Distant project
Jon Cutler signed a deal with Peter Primiani and Tyrone
Solomon of Toronto’s 83 West Records.
Taking over full distribution of
83 West. Realizing there would be more recognition
in the amount of releases Distant and 83 West decided
to release all their projects simultaneously. Within
less than a year Distant Music began gaining a reputation
for quality releases. Releasing productions from Sandy
Rivera of Kings Of Tomorrow, Johnny D & Nicky
P, Jon Cutler & DJ Romain, The Space Invaders
and many upcoming producers.
After the first year Jon introduced
his second label Remedie Records a sub label of Distant.
Remedie is geared towards very deep Jazzy house productions
with an anything goes b-side attitude. Such as Trip-Hop,
down tempo or even ballads giving house producers
a chance to show their versatility.
